Introduction to Marketing
There are a multitude of topics that fall under the general subject of "marketing" — publicity, promotion, positioning, branding, advertising, copy writing, and much, much more. This is an ever-growing focus and I'll add new insights from time to time (so check back to see what's new).
Marketing a speaker's business is similar in many respects to marketing other types of businesses. But one aspect that is unique to professional speaking is the concept of "speakers bureaus". So the first insights in this focus will address that seemingly simple question — what the heck is a speaker's bureau, and do I want to work with one? (And if I do, how do I go about it?) Even if you're not interested in working with a speaker's bureau, it might be worthwhile to explore these insights, just to have a better idea of what they are and how they work.
